This week has been exhausting for my students. They have been working diligently on their exams and are finally over halfway done. Tomorrow is their last day of exams. They are all exhausted by the end of the day! One of my students came in today and said that he has been sleeping better at night because he is so tired. I also had a student tell me today that he has not been sleeping well because he is so nervous about the exams. It is tough watching them get so worked up and burned out from so many exams. Luckily we have had some time each day to relax and do fun activities, and the field has FINALLY dried up so the kids can play out there now! They really need the chance to run around this week! I can’t imagine taking twelve exams in the span of four days! I have never even had that many throughout any of my schooling. Luckily Friday should be an easy day. We will begin to prepare for the Christmas concert that is next week Wednesday.
This past weekend I was able to check one more activity off of my St. Lucia to do list! We went zip lining at Treetop Adventure Park in Dennery! It was an amazing rush flying over the rain forest. It was absolutely beautiful. We began the day by getting picked up by the shuttle bus and our fantastic tour guide Annie. She was so funny! We had a great time talking to her and telling her about our teaching experiences. It was also fun that as we were traveling and she was talking about different places we could say that we have already been there. It was fun being more of a “local” than a tourist. When we got to Treetop Adventure Park we unloaded the bus and got our gear on! Then we walked up to the first line, got a quick lesson in what to do, and we were off! The view we had of the rainforest was stunning! One of the lines went over a river and in some you could almost touch the tops of the trees. Once we were done and back on the bus Annie had some surprises for us. She brought us fresh coco and we were each able to suck on one coco bean. It was very sweet and tasty. She also had some “Jungle Juice” for us to try, but when we found out it was 120 proof we decided to pass. It was a fun ride back home. We ended the day by getting some ice cream at the mall. I am happy that I have been able to do the two activities I wanted to do here! Standing under the waterfall and zip lining were both experiences I will never forget!
