I arrived in St. Lucia around 2:00 yesterday afternoon, and made it to my host family's home around 3:30. When I arrived I was able to take some time to get myself settled. Then we went to the local shopping area for some dinner and there was music playing and people dancing. I am learning how different it is here than in Wisconsin! First off it is about 88 degree here today! This summer was barely that hot! My home does not have air conditioning or hot water. When I showered this morning the cold water felt wonderful! While I am here I also need to wear bug spray all the time. One thing I was not expecting is that they drive on the opposite side of the street. When I went to get in the car to go home I almost got in on the drivers side! That will take some getting used to! There are also dogs that wander the streets as well as chickens! Everything here is beautiful though. From my front porch I can see big hills and the water. There are palm trees all around!
I can't believe it but I leave in TWO days!!!!! My amazing adventure in St. Lucia is so close! I finally got 100% confirmation today that I have someone to pick me up at the airport. Sam and I also each got our Norby today. Now that we have Norby we can officially travel abroad!! He will join us on all of our adventures. My class at Glenbrook also made a Red Raider today that will travel with me and join in on the adventure.
I leave for St. Lucia in 37 days!!! So far I know I will be teaching at The Montessori Centre in Rodney Bay. I have spent hours looking at their website and it looks like an amazing school. The link below will bring you to their website. I have also been learning about the island of St. Lucia. Here is what I have learned so far...
